Had a late dinner meeting with a couple of friends over at
Taste of LA near
Timog, and I have to say, it's a pretty cozy venue. A bit pricey (be prepared to spend a bit over 300 bucks a person) but the food and servings weren't bad at all. Easy parking too, as long as you park in the back, and not the front where it can get crowded easy.
Anyway, we actually met up with none other than the very versatile (and in reality, the quite silly)
Bituin Escalante. I was like,
wow... obviously I was a bit starstruck meeting her in person.
And then we finally got down to talk and exchange pleasantries. I was even more awe-struck. Very down to earth, and extremely
kalog, it was also a wonderful surprise to know that she knew a lot of our common friends. So common in fact that one of my old friends from college was actually her cousin, and it was quite timely too because her cousin called right then and there! She was so nice that she actually made me talk to her on her cell phone to say hi. =P We're about the same age so it wasn't
that far off to learn that she knew most of the theater peeps I knew too.
She used to play volleyball too, and vowed to lose a few more pounds and join us on our Saturday night sessions. And to top it all off, when I was telling my other friend to start getting ready to play keyboards for our Glam project band, she said she wanted in. Zomg. I almost fainted.
Anyway, to catch more of
Ms. Bituin, she'll be at
SPIT tomorrow night at
Mag:Net Cafe over at High Street
(how many times have I plugged your bar and still no discount? =P) and then Broadway-oke after. She will also grace the opening ceremonies of the
Shakey's V-League on March 30, 1PM, where she will sing a medley in commemoration of the 5 years of the
Shakey's V-League.
So yeah, I guess you could say, it was really cool meeting her in person and realizing that, heck yeah, she's just like any other talented person you know, but at the same time you step back and realize, wow, she's actually an internationally acclaimed singer!
I hate to say it, but I really was...
Bituin-Struck....
Ok you can smack me now.
