Here's a few stats for you folks:

In the past 3 months, I have called PLDT DSL Customer service a record of 9 times. More if you count the times when no one would answer. That's an average of 3 calls a month for this year alone.

Out of those times that I was able to get in touch with someone on their end, I've been able to talk to a supervisor once. Once. And I had to stay home that day because they would not escalate my call that morning, so I had no choice but to wait for their damn supervisor in the afternoon. I asked to talk to a supervisor at 8AM and was able to talk to one at around 5PM. I waited the whole damn day.

The past 3 months, my connection only got up to its intended speed of 700mbps or more a grand total of... 3 days! That's the one weekend right after I talked to the supervisor.

Right now, I am typing on my notepad because, I have been trying to connect since 10:30 PM. It's already 11:40 PM and still no connection. Sure I was able to connect a few times... for about 1 minute. Just enough time to open my home page. Yehey!

I just finished talking to another customer service rep (after waiting for about 10 mins on the line mind you) and their only reply to me is: sorry sir we'll look into it.

Basically, there's nothing I can do but to shut up and take it up the ass.

And you know what ticks me off the most? I have friends who tell me their PLDT is fine and they're wondering why I keep complaining. So what the hell is wrong?

I tell you... your best bet before getting any type of ISP is to ask the neighbors what they're using, and find out how it is. You can also check the forums, like TipidPC, etc, and ask around for info on what's best for your area. Because as it is now, I regret paying this much money each month for a service I can hardly use. If I had known PLDT would be this bad here, I would have never subscribed in the first place.

No wonder ISPs demand you to stay with them for a year... so in the event that they swindle you out of your money, you have no choice but to suck it up.

I'm going to call customer service again... I wish I could get a refund.

I've a bad feeling by the time I post this, it will be morning already...

I hate being a real cunt when talking to a customer service agent, but the past 2 ones I've talked to have been giving me the runaround. It's sad really that they have no clue how to fix the problem.

Right now I'm talking to agent number 2. I really, really, really, don't want to be an asshole, but... sigh... they give me no choice. COME BACK MY MONEY!

Actually dude, recently lang naging masagwa. When I first got my subscription it was pretty decent, occasional slow down I could live with.

But now? Holy crap. Consistent DC, erratic connection times, etc. etc. Kakainis!

lol i hate PLDT DSL too.. been getting random disconnections for the past...... 6 years? i was actually planning on bombing them.. so that they'd have good reason to upgrade their infrastructure.. the philippines' addict overclocker turned terrorist.. ftw :D

@ everyone

tapping won't really affect downstream speed.. his downstream is capped on the ISP side.. what's really happening is that PLDT is being such a big greedy muthaf*cker that they accept WAY MORE subscribers than their system can handle.. the end result? you'll never reach that subscription speed you paid for.. i believe the operative words in their ads would be UP TO xxx Mbps.. meaning any speed below that is perfectly fine as they don't set a minimum speed.. hell they can give you 30kbps and it would still fall under the UP TO 2mbps download speed category..

PLDT is crap.. lol don't expect anything to improve for as long as they monopolize the telecoms industry..

P.S.

I got dc while typing this reply.. PLDT sucks bawls..

I'm also beginning to think there's something wrong with the modem... or at least connectivity to their system. The DSL light on my modem doesn't turn on, pero wala naman naka-disconnect sa cables ko. And the error being returned is "The remote computer did not respond". Maybe someone on their end is playing Net God... 'ikaw... bawal ka mag-connect!!!!'

But seriously man, I agree with your sentiments. They never advertise "GUARANTEED XXX SPEEDS" (but the new Globe DSL plans do.... hmmmm). And in actuality, for the past few months, I've been clocking my average download speed at 250kbps.

And here's the funny part.... I'm supposed to be getting 1mbps right? When one of their tech guys asked my to run the online bandwidth and download speed test, and I wasn't getting my speed, he said, 'sir dapat nasa mga 700kbps ka, yun ang normal para sa inyo'. Uh.... but I paid for more than that. So I'm just supposed to accept that fact that I'm actually paying for more than what I intended?

And to think I used to believe their plans were sulit. Sigh. Kaya pala mura na ang internet ngayon. =P

Well it really depends on your area. Minsan kasi kaya nagiging ganyan ka-pangit yung connection kasi sobrang congested na sa area. Daw ha? Not sure if that's entirely true.

One thing's for sure though, hindi pa ganon ka-ganda ang mga wireless connectivity eklavu. In fact, pangit nga sila hahaha.

I used to be ZPDee cable, ok sila pero pag nag-down yung service nila BULOK ANG CUSTOMER SERVICE! And when I mean bulok, I mean NONEXISTENT!

My best friend uses Globe naman, and in their area it's been pretty good! Problem lang is not all areas are serviced by Globe. Pero when last I checked their subscription plans, Globe was offering 3x the speed of my current PLDT connection at the same price! Oh di ba bongga?!

And hindi pa yan PR na tipong UP TO XXX speeds... no! GUARANTEED and speed. Daw ha. Lol.

Anyway, something wrong with PLDT lately talaga... ang di ko talga ma-gets is bakit sa ibang area walang problema ang connections nila. Modem kaya ang problem?

man, when will you ever learn. get rid of it. di naman kasi pldt ang nagha-handle ng 'repairs', sub-contract so pagparating sira, tuloy ang kontrata (according to someone i know who knows someone who's neighbor is a friend of someone who works sa company na kinontrata 'daw' ng pldt. after agonizing with pldt for a year, i'll believe even cristy fermin). get yourself a bayantel dsl line and be happy again.

Actually, Globe na sana lilipatan ko, problem is the building I'm movin to is new! So no lines yet... huhuhu. May have to wait a few more weeks to get connected. =(
jercouzen wrote on Mar 19
it's not the modem iggy.. i used to think it was.. what happens to me now is that i get several disconnects when i first turn my system on.. (dropped connections like 4-10 times) then after that it's stable.. the problem is with their end.. so now.. i rarely (i mean rarely) turn off my system.. like once every 2-3 weeks (or when i go out of town and stuff)..

as for speed, not much of a problem in my case (luckily).. i just DC a lot during the worst possible times (not so lucky).. and stop calling tech support.. they can't do anything for you.. PLDT network is saturated in your area.. speed wont improve unless they do another systemwide upgrade..

lol that's why monopolies suck.. the driving force to improve services is totally non-existent..
