Yes. My gadgets are dying on me.
First my Digital Camera which I soooo love bringing around with me whereever I go. Notice the lack of Photo updates over the recent months? My trusy little Vivitar digicam went kaput, and doesn't seem to start when I load batteries. It just pops its little lens nozzle out, retracts it again, and dies. It's not a battery issue, I've tried brand new batteries. It still fizzles on start up.
Next my DVD player. Over the past few months, the wear and tear has finally taken it's toll. Philips i guess was not made for Makati Cinema Square brand DVDs, and has now finally given up the ghost. It stopped playing even my original DVDs. Well it can, but after a number of tries. Rest in peace, Philips DVD player... you have served me well.
Then my cell phone started acting up. I think I posted a few weeks ago about how the numbers 3, 6 and 9 wouldn't work. Had it fixed for 300 bucks. Worked for a couple of days. And then... whenever I'd close my N6750 back to default state, sliding the body down, the sim card would disconnect. Until eventually, even keys don't work, and the screen won't come on. And to think I save all my contacts and data on the phone, and not on the Sim card. I'm phoneless right now and honestly, quite peaceful at home. Hehe.
Lastly, my hard drive, which I wrote about yesterday, was accidentally formatted. Blame my recklessness and busy schedule. I wasn't paying attention and though I was formatting my Flash drive... until the success message came out saying "You now have 80GB of free space".. WTF. All my work over the years, gone in an instant.
Technology sucks.

On a more positive note, we bought a new DVD player over the weekend, worth Php 1.4k. You know the brand, Orange? Yup. It's perfect for... "questionable" DVDs. And you can play DivX as well, so the latest 4400 episodes I download I can now transfer to my Flash Drive and watch them on my DVD player.
Yes you heard me... it has a USB port which allows me to plug in any USB device and browse movie, sound and even picture files like a regular file browser. And yeah, all the DVDs I couldn't watch before, play perfectly well now. Let's see how long it will last, yeah?
Next yup, my weekend movie marathon. Comment deleted at the request of the author.
 | hrudu wrote on Jul 4, '07 haha, my graphics card gave out (because of the heat?) so I'm back to using a geforce2 ... harddisk got screwed too, my pc won't boot using the SATA one and bios can't detect it pero nakikita sa windows when i downloaded drivers ... and my phone's scroll down doesn't work too well now, so long text messages are useless and gaddammit ... 12 days na walang internet. I share your pain! (in a way)
as a side note ... interesting yung Orange DVD player ... |
 | oh so it was an actual format then? i thought your HDD crashed.. dude, that program i sent you will recover everything if it was a format.. :)
you just need another 80GB disk to transfer the recovered files on.. hehe :P |
| you just need another 80GB disk to transfer the recovered files on.. hehe :P I started the recovery process last night. Was able to free up enough space on my 320GB home drive. And yes, I had to delete all the old TV Episodes I'd downloaded and saved over the past year: everything from The OC, to CSI Season 7, to Rockstar Supernova to America's Next Top Model. Lol. Was able to clear up more than 90gb of space.
I'm now at 15% recovery and still running. Based on the time this is taking, recovery will probably take another 24 hours. Ouch. |
 | jercouzen wrote on Jul 4, '07, edited on Jul 4, '07 you should have been there when i went and recovered data from a 160GB hdd.. took me around 37 hours :P
hope your power is stable :P |

T_T
By the way, the recovery still isn't finished... the recovery tool has been running since Wednesday/Thursday I think. Rawr. |
 | holy cow.. my longest recovery run was only 30+ hours (@_@)
what specs are you using to run the tool?
how much has been completed? you sure the app hasn't hung up yet? o.O |
| what specs are you using to run the tool? Yup the app is still running. I set it to recover all files on drive E (the one I accidentally formatted). why it's taking so long I can only fathom a guess. But I'm sure it hasn't stopped... it's still running from what I can tell now. I'll take another screenie later.
The timer reset to zero hours by the way... that's how long it's taken. Lol. |
