I was fortunate enough to get a premiere ticket for Wednesday night. In fact, on my way out of the movie house, there was a Crime/Suspense camera crew pointing their mic in my face shouting "Sir! how'd you find the movie?" I said one thing: I LOVE HEATH LEDGER! Yes, this movie made me all brokeback for him. Without revealing too much about the story and any spoilers whatsover, all I can say is, Heath made the 2008 Joker REAL. His psychosis, his personality, his little nuances and demeanor... it felt so real on screen. So believable was his performance as a deranged agent of chaos that I got chills watching him, literally hair-raising and disturbing. His performance was so disarming and chilling that I was reminded of Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs... he connected with his audience... he came across as truly believable. If you haven't seen the Dark Knight, then don't rush it. Fuck yeah. All three of them sang--the guitarist, the bassist, the drummer--all of them had a song each, and more. And the songs I listed above? These aren't your simple 4 chord pattern songs--fucking Moby Dick is to rock drummer's as Stariway to Heaven is to guitarists... and Sweet Child? That jaw-dropping guitar solo in the outro? It wasn't announced or anything, since the band only auditioned last week. Still, lots of the regulars were there--including me of course! Lol. But there was a surprise guest that night, and boy were we really surprised to see him there! It was <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0002364/">Dante Basco</a>, same dude who played Rufio in Hook and that bad ass Ramos in Take the Lead. And oh yeah, Pam says he's also the voice of Jake Long in that animated coolness American Dragon! ^_^ When we cornered him for a few photos, he said he was in town for a movie shoot with Echo Rosales.
